At the time of writing (2015) the original Minder series is enjoying regular repeats in the UK. The show still has a loyal fan base around the world and is repeated frequently in many other markets.

Occasional episodes found their way onto VHS video during the 1980s, the majority through the video distribution arm of Thames Television. With the demise of that company the videotapes went out of production and left very little available to the retail market.

In 2001 Clear Vision Video in Britain embarked upon a project to release the entire series of Minder in chronological order for retail sale on VHS and DVD under licence from the copyright owner FremantleMedia Ltd. A few years later Umbrella Entertainment in Australia was granted a similar licence to distribute the series for retail sale in Australasia. When the respective licences expired the distribution rights reverted to FremantleMedia, which now does its own distribution of Minder DVDs in all markets except America where distribution is licensed to BFS Entertainment.
